Birth Centre Midwife

About the Role

The post holder will be required to provide the full remit of midwifery care for women on the Birth Centre, primarily

intrapartum care. The post holder should have a philosophy that is women centred, promotes choice and actively uses

approaches to keep birth normal. Midwives will work within a small team including maternity support workers to provide

appropriate care for women and their families. The teaching and supervision of student midwives is expected and

encouraged. The post holder will be designated to take charge of a ward area in the absence of the person who has

continuing responsibility. The post holder is expected to work in the birth centre but can be asked to rotate between
