Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist
About the Role
The Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist at Beth Israel Lahey Health plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by ensuring accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures. This position involves collaborating with healthcare providers to improve the quality of medical records, thereby impacting patient outcomes and hospital reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Complete initial reviews of patient records within 24-48 hours.
- Evaluate documentation for accurate DRG assignment.
- Track review details using 3M software.
- Conduct follow-up reviews every 2 days.
- Educate physicians on documentation improvement.
- Collaborate with the CDI Manager and Physician Advisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
Requirements
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
- RN license required.
- 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Experience with computer systems and Microsoft Office.
- Preferred: BS in Nursing and CCDS or CDIP certification.
- Knowledge of DRG Reimbursement and ICD-10 Coding.
