About the Role

We have a 24 bedded stroke unit and operate a 24 hour a day stroke thrombolysis service and daily TIA assessment service

supported by stroke specialist nurses. There is also an early supported discharge scheme for stroke.We have a

well-developed ortho-geriatric service supported by a consultant geriatrician and 2 trauma nurse specialists. Almost 95%

of our hip fracture patients meet the criteria for the best practice tariff and we are the best hospital in the country

providing hip fracture care. Acute admissions are assessed on a 22 Bedded Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), or in the

Accident and Emergency Department. The AAU is staffed by its own team of consultants and junior staff who provide early
