Glaucoma Nurse Specialist and Pre-operative Nurse (Ophthalmology)

About the Role

Join our Glaucoma service at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust as a Glaucoma Nurse Specialist and Pre-operative Nurse. We seek an experienced NMC registered nurse with a background in Ophthalmology and pre-operative assessment. You will provide patient-centered care, lead nurse-led clinics, and work within a dedicated multidisciplinary team, ensuring high standards of care for our patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing expertise for Ophthalmology patients.
• Lead and run nurse-led clinics, including in Swanage.
• Develop and implement eye unit service policies.
• Educate patients and healthcare personnel as directed.
• Analyze patient history and formulate management plans.
• Conduct a range of diagnostic tests using advanced skills.
• Utilize critical thinking in patient assessment and management.

Requirements

• NMC registration and experience in Ophthalmology.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care.
• Experience in pre-operative assessment is preferred.
