Inclusion Officer / Behaviour Support Worker

About the Role

This role involves providing essential support to pupils facing emotional or behavioral challenges, helping them regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to calls for support across the school.
  • Assess situations and ensure pupil and staff safety.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to stabilize emotions.
  • Escort pupils to designated regulation areas as needed.
  • Support pupils' return to class after periods of regulation.
  • Liaise with teachers to share strategies for individual pupils.
  • Guide children in recognizing emotions and triggers.
  • Model emotional stability and respect in behavior.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with social and emotional needs.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Empathy and passion for helping children succeed.
  • Confident in building relationships with staff.
  • Flexible approach to supporting individual needs.

Compensation

Salary is £24,796 per annum FTE, with an actual annual salary of £17,243 plus benefits.

Location & Schedule

Located in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire. Part-time, 30 hours per week, term time only.
