Pastoral Support Worker
About the Role
This isn’t just a support role — it’s an opportunity to shape young lives and make a lasting difference. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to pupils, helping them re-engage positively with learning, build confidence, and navigate challenges. You’ll work closely with staff, families, and external professionals to deliver a consistent, trauma-informed approach that promotes wellbeing and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist pupils to return to class calmly after incidents
- Support behaviour strategies and positive behaviour approaches
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person
- Maintain relationships with staff, families, and professionals
- Be a visible, supportive presence around school
- Contribute to school enrichment activities and reward systems
- Deliver training on CPI debrief strategies to staff
Requirements
- Genuine passion for supporting young people
- Experience with pupils with SEN or complex needs (desirable)
- Calm, confident, and compassionate under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Trauma-informed and safeguarding-first mindset
- Full UK driving licence

Compensation
Salary is up to £26,000 per annum, depending on experience, not pro rata. You will work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay under the 4-Day Working Week trial.
Location & Schedule
Position based at 3 Dimensions School, Somerset, TA20 3AJ. Full-time hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, term time only.
