Screening and Fetal Medicine Lead Midwife
About the Role
Provide genetic counselling relating to the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia programme and the Fetal Anomaly Programme.
Inform maternity service users of the results of diagnostic and genetic testing to patients. Provide specialist
midwifery care to maternity service users under the care of the Fetal Medicine team including assisting with clinical
procedures where required. Provide skilled and sensitive counselling to pregnant people and their partners concerning
high risk results. Ensure the smooth and effective handling of positive screening results in line with current protocols
and practices. Ensure submission of information of detected anomalies, both fetal and neonatal to the National
