About the Role
Working to the requirements of the Children Act 1989, and the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014, the Children
Looked After Team delivers services to young people throughout the Merthyr Tydfil borough, and further afield when our
care experienced young people reside outside of the borough. The team also supports children and their families who are
subject to a Special Guardianship Order.
The Children Looked After Team carry out statutory duties for all children subject to section 76 parental agreement,
interim or full Care Orders and Special Guardianship Orders. The Local Authority has a duty to ensure that the work and
