Specialty Doctor - Acute Medicine | East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust
About the Role
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our team at the Acute Medicine Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching
Hospital. The acute medical unit (AMU) in Blackburn was established in 1993 and has been the longest continuously
operating AMU in the country.
The Acute Medicine Department currently consists of a 73-bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU), an Ambulatory Emergency Care
Unit (AECU) with 10 assessment cubicles, and a Short Stay Ward with 23 beds. Our most recent expansion in 2020 was a
purpose-built modern AMU-B with continuous cardiac monitoring in high observation areas and point-of-care ultrasound.
